Operation uncovers multiple violations

The Law Enforcement Division of the Labour Department conducted an operation at a commercial building in Kampong Tanjung Bunut on Monday, to ensure compliance with the Employment Order 2009.

During the inspection, a mobile phone accessories and repair business was found violating several regulations. The violations included employing foreign workers without proper permission, using workers from another company’s guarantee, assigning workers with incorrect job titles, failing to provide first aid equipment, overworking employees without rest days and not paying overtime. Employers found violating the Employment Order, 2009 may face fines of up to BND1,000. If the fines are not paid, employers will be prosecuted in court.

The Labour Department urged employers to comply with the Employment Order, 2009 by monitoring worker welfare, adhering to job permits, providing necessary equipment, and ensuring proper working conditions. – Fadley Faisal
