Twenty-four students were awarded scholarships by the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Wednesday to pursue further studies, with some going abroad to undertake degree programmes.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman presented the scholarships to the students at a ceremony at An-Naura hall, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
Sixteen will further their studies at Al-Azhar University Egypt in Syariah Islamiyyah, Usuluddin, Arabic Language and Takhassus Al-Quran Wal Qiraat, one student will be undertaking a degree in occupational Therapy at Monash University, Australia and another student will study Al-Quran and Al-Hadith at Universiti Malaya, Malaysia.
One student will be studying Arabic Language as Second Language at Universiti Islam Antarabangsa, Malaysia.
Meanwhile five other students were given scholarships to study ‘A’-levels at Jerudong International School (JIS). – Azlan Othman
