Temporary closure of some fuel stations

The Weights and Measures Unit (SDT), Industry and Business Ecosystem Division (IBE) under the Ministry of Finance and Economy will continue to carry out verification of accuracy readings on fuel dispensing pumps at selected fuel stations from September 6-13.

In ensuring the safety and well-being of the public as well as the workforce involved, a number of fuel stations will be closed from 9am until completion, with the whole inspection and verification process estimated to take between two to three hours.

The affected fuel stations are Keriam Petrol Station, Tutong on September 6 from 9am to 11am, Mar’azmala Petrol Station on September 10 from 9am to 11am, Berakas Petrol Station and Koperasi Perniagaan dan Perusahaan Melayu Petrol Station on September 12 from 9am to 11am as well as Tumasek Petrol Station on September 13 from 9am to 11am.

The inspection and verification is in accordance with the Weights and Measures Act 1983, Chapter 151. As per the stipulated guidelines under the Act, all weighing and measuring instruments used for trading purposes are required to be checked for their accuracy and validity, and that the instruments have already been registered with the SDT Unit.

The routine inspection is conducted three times a year.
