Brunei team stands out at Sabah fitness contest

Some 20 Bruneians competed with athletes from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, China and Italy at Borneo Pangazao Functional Fitness Tournament 2024 at Sukan Likas Complex, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah recently, delivering a standout performance at the Borneo Pangazao 2024 competition, excelling across several divisions.

Mayul Ariffin captured first place in the RX male individual division and Darren Chai completed third.

Nina Juna earned second place in the RX female individual division and in the master female division, Zed Saini secured second place.

Abdul Azim Nadzri achieved second place and Faez Tajudin finished third in the intermediate male individual division. Brunei’s representation included five participants in the RX male individual division, three in the RX female individual division, five in the intermediate male individual division, one in the intermediate female individual division and one in the master female division.

The team division featured a Bruneian team comprising two males and two females.

The event is a yearly functional fitness tournament held in Borneo, specifically in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. It features a series of physical events designed to test the strength, endurance and overall fitness.

Participants from various categories compete in different workout challenges, including weightlifting, cardiovascular exercises, bodyweight and functional movements.

The competition aimed to bring together athletes of all levels to showcase their fitness capabilities and promote the sport in the region.
