Jerudong International School (JIS) held performances of ‘The Addams Family’ at the JIS Arts Centre on 22nd November and 23rd November 2024, the school said in a press release.
The Addams Family is a comedic musical that follows the story of Wednesday Addams, who has unexpectedly fallen in love with a respectable young man unknown to her parents. In a twist, Wednesday confides in her father, Gomez, and asks him to keep this secret from her mother, Morticia. This leads to a transformative dinner event, where the Addams family hosts Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents, setting the stage for delightful chaos and revelations.
The production consisted of 75 students from the Senior School as performers on stage.
There were an additional 300 students and staff working hard behind the scenes in set construction and painting, prop building, costume-making, choreography, the technical team, as well as hair and make-up.
For the first time at JIS, the Friday show featured an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter (pic, left), making the performance accessible to members of the Deaf and hard-of hearing community. This initiative reflects the school’s dedication to ensuring that everyone can enjoy the arts in a welcoming environment.
Production Director, Mr. Will Kemp, commented, “It has been an incredible experience collaborating with such a talented and dedicated team of students and staff. Their commitment has truly elevated this production. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed their time and energy to bring this extraordinary show to life.”

JIS said the production was presented through special arrangement with and all authorised performance materials are supplied by Theatrical Rights Worldwide (TRW).
