Street United FC began their quest in the Brunei Premier Futsal League 2024/2025 edition in style after enjoying a 6-0 rout over FC Phosphor at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam Sports Complex Multi-Purpose Hall recently.
Although FC Phosphor provided exciting competition at the start of the match, Street United pacy player Zulaezmi Suhady wisely used the open space to create an early goal in the seventh minute before Pudin Marji ramped up the pressure on the opposing team with a quick-fire double in the 14th and 17th minute.
Trailing in the first half, FC Phosphor tried to change the intensity of the match but the young squad’s threat failed to find the net.
On the other hand, Street United resumed their clinical finishing with Eddy Shahrol’s goal in the 23rd minute and Aldy Omar adding to the misery of the opponents with his effort in the 31st minute.
Meanwhile, Setiawan Dimas’ explosive strike in the 35th minute capped off a perfect start for Street United with a final score of 6-0.
Street United FC Head Coach Yus Yusof sung the praises of his charges after an excellent start to their campaign in the Division 2 league.
He said, “The players managed to use every opportunity to score on the opponent’s goal.
They are also smart in reading the opponent’s movements and closing the space in defence to make it difficult for FC Phosphor’s attackers to score.”
The head coach agreed that this win is a big momentum for Street United as a fuel of enthusiasm for the next match.
At the same time, he suggested that the players should not be too complacent with the first achievement, but should work even harder to strengthen the team.
Meanwhile, FC Phosphor Club Manager Awangku Md Abu Tahlib bin Pengiran Haji Idris accepted and take heed from the defeat.
He said, “The players have succeeded in carrying out the tasks given but they failed to make an effective finish despite having a series of opportunities in front of the opponent’s goal.” The head coach concluded, “We will improve these weaknesses and bounce back in the second game.” – Fadhil Yunus
