TOKYO (ANN/THE YOMIURI SHIMBUN) – Los Angeles Dodgers standout Shohei Ohtani has been appointed as one of the judges for the inaugural “Jump Sports Manga Sho” award, organised by the editorial team of Shueisha Inc’s renowned Shukan Shonen Jump weekly magazine.

Ohtani was selected by the company to bring a prominent athlete’s perspective to the panel. Joining him are three other esteemed judges, including manga artists and authors. Ohtani enthusiastically accepted the invitation, as confirmed by the company.

The distinguished panel comprises Takehiko Inoue, renowned for “Slam Dunk,” Riichiro Inagaki, the original author of “Eyeshield 21,” and Tadatoshi Fujimaki, known for “Kuroko’s Basketball.”

The competition is open to both professionals and amateurs until October 31. The winning entry, to be announced in the late-December edition of Shonen Jump this year, stands to receive prizes, including JPY1 million.
