The Shotokan Karate Brunei Darussalam (SKBD), an affiliated karate club with the Brunei Karate Federation (BRUKAF), held a black belt grading assessment at the Hassanal Bolkiah Indoor Stadium yesterday.
A total of 34 karatekas underwent assessments for the 1st Dan black belt, while one karateka was assessed for the 2nd Dan black belt. Sensei Julian Chin from the Malaysia Karate Federation and Shihan Sofian Abdullah of BRUKAF conducted the grading.
The assessment covered elements such as understanding karate principles, physical tests, and performing various katas and bunkai.
Both assessors expressed satisfaction with the quality demonstrated by all karatekas and encouraged them to continue advancing in their karate journey.
One of the participants expressed relief following the assessment after enduring years of training and sacrifices.
