In his titah for the 35
th
National Day,
His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah
Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum
Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul
Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-
Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam said, “We
will also continue to intensify our efforts
for regional and international security
and stability, according to our existing
capabilities.
“This includes channelling assistance
tothoseinneedbymeansofhumanitarian
operations or mitigation assistance
in times of disaster, as well as peace-
keeping and monitoring missions.”
In his New Year 2019 titah, His Majesty
said, “In the global economic network,
Bruneians should avail themselves of
the existing opportunities, including
within the ASEAN region, whereby
ASEAN e-trade has the potential to
increase from USD30 billion in 2016, to
USD200 billion by 2025.

is expected to be
the fourth-largest
economy globally
by 2030. Towards
this, we need to
step up efforts to
empower intra-
ASEAN trade
“The technological developments
brought about by the Fourth Industrial
Revolution will, however, challenge our
conventional skills in requiring us to
enhance our existing skills and undergo
lifelong learning.
“From such far-reaching economic
effects, we need to provide appropriate
policies to forge regional and
international cooperation, especially
in the context of networking within the
ASEAN region, where we need to strive
towards an ASEAN Community. By doing
so, we are able to determine the success
of the present and future generations.
“The ASEAN region is growing fast,
economically. It is expected to be the
fourth-largest economy globally by
2030. Towards this, we need to step up
efforts to empower intra-ASEAN trade.”
And in the titah delivered on the
occasion of his 72
nd
birthday, His Majesty
said, “The existing cooperation through
membership in regional and international
organisations will also continue to be
strengthened.
“Brunei must take advantage of the
economicopportunitieswithinASEANby
building e-commerce and strengthening
intra-regional trade.”
