Youth join humanitarian camp

The ‘Humanitarian Camp: Nextgen Heroes – Unity in Action’ programme, organised by WeCare Association, was held on September 28-29 at the Sungai Kebun Sports Complex. A total of 38 participants and committee members attended the programme.

The camp aimed to raise awareness among Bruneian youth on humanitarian issues and share experiences from aid projects conducted locally and internationally.

It also sought to cultivate a new generation of volunteers actively involved in promoting charity and awareness programmes.

Over the two-day event, various sharing sessions and activities were conducted, including sessions on volunteer preparedness and their role in addressing humanitarian issues.

Participants were also introduced to the functions and responsibilities of the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC).

Team-building activities led by BeManfaat and a forum featuring panellists from Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCare) and Persatuan Kemajuan Insan (Kesan) were also part of the programme. Additionally, participants attended a special talk, in conjunction with Maulidur Rasul, delivered by a religious scholar from the Islamic Da’wah Centre, highlighting the humanitarian values exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The talk was held at Kampong Burong Pingai Ayer Mosque alongside the local congregation.

The closing ceremony and certificate presentation were officiated by Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan along with members of the association’s board of advisors and officials from the Youth and Sports Department.
