The Minda Youth Movement (MYM) hosted several fun games and activities as part of the Karnival Hari Keputeraan from September 27 to 29 at Pusat Insani, Seria.
One of the carnival highlights was the Explorace titled ‘Black Gold Journey’, held on the final day. Thirty-six participants, divided into nine groups, completed a series of trials and challenges based on traditional Bruneian games, testing their fitness, mental fortitude and teamwork. The Explorace started in Kuala Belait and concluded in Seria.
Event chairman Muhammad Nourfaisal Bany bin Ismail said the carnival and Explorace were held in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 78th birthday celebration.
He noted that the carnival, an annual event organised by MYM, featured over 90 vendors comprising local businesses and entrepreneurs, adding that ‘Black Gold Journey’ was the largest Explorace yet, taking place in two towns.
As a youth group, MYM emphasised in providing a fun and exciting location for residents in the surrounding area to visit over the weekend. Events like the carnival and Explorace offer opportunities for youth to learn, gain experience, and develop leadership qualities.
Permanent Secretary (Youth) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin attended the closing ceremony of the Explorace and presented prizes to the winners. – Daniel Lim
