The Department of Labour, Ministry of Home Affairs, would like to refer to Stressed-Out Boss’ letter, ‘Unable to apply for special passes’, published in the Opinion page of the Bulletin on May 24.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank the writer for making us aware of their experiences.

The Department of Labour would like to inform the writer that the National Labour Management System (NLMS) was launched on April 1, 2023 in phases, where the NLMS allows for the application of foreign workers licence (FWL), including the special approval work pass (SAWP), domestic helpers licence (DHL) and job order approvals for domestic workers, through the system.

We would like to advise companies and employers to register for online applications through the NLMS website: nlms.gov.bn. The registration procedure for the applications can be obtained from our Instagram at account @labour.bn.

In our effort to provide a better service to our NLMS users, any inquiries regarding the system can be made by contacting our IT hotline at 2382678; WhatsApp to 8753570; visit the NLMS kiosk at the Department of Labour in Jalan Dewan Majlis or any of our district offices; or visit our FAQs on our website at www.labour.gov.bn.

In our endeavour for the NLMS to be a more efficient and user-friendly system for the public, the Department of Labour will hold another roadshow to inform the public of the usage of NLMS with the latest development and common problems faced by the users.

We thank the writer for highlighting the issue. The agency takes public concerns seriously as our expectations are for this system to be smooth running and user-friendly.
