Long wait for blood test frustrates patients

A few days before the start of Ramadhan, I had an appointment for a blood test at a health centre in the Brunei-Muara District.

Expecting a quick visit, I arrived at 9.30am only to find 43 people ahead of me in the queue.

What should have been a brief appointment turned into an unexpectedly long wait. By the time my number was finally called, it was already 11.30am.

I couldn’t understand why such a simple procedure took so long. The queue was divided into two categories – one for senior citizens and another for general patients. There were three separate rooms, with one specifically designated for senior citizens.

However, it wasn’t until around 10.30am, when a woman in a lab coat entered, that the queue started moving noticeably faster.

It is concerning that the delay seemed to be due to a staff member arriving late. This inefficiency caused unnecessary frustration for patients, especially elderly individuals who had to endure the long wait. The inadequate seating further compounded the issue, forcing some to stand while others had to wait in a different room.
