Vietnam’s footwear, leather exports to hit USD27B

HANOI (XINHUA) – Vietnam’s footwear and leather industry is poised to achieve USD26-27 billion in exports in 2024, marking a USD3-billion increase from the previous year, Vietnam News cited the Vietnam Leather, Footwear and Handbag Association as saying yesterday.

North America led Vietnam’s export destinations, accounting for 41.4 per cent of footwear and 47 per cent of handbag exports, followed by the European Union, with 29.5 per cent and 25.4 per cent, respectively, according to the association. Vietnam’s 16 key markets, including the United States, China, Japan, Belgium, the Netherlands, Britain, South Korea, Canada, France, Spain, Italy and Australia, represented over 88.4 per cent of the total export turnover.

The association’s vice chairwoman and general secretary Phan Thi Thanh Xuan said the industry showed a strong recovery since late 2023, with major firms securing contracts through mid-2025.
