UTB hosts international design and technology conference

Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) held its first-ever International Conference on Creative Arts Design and Technology (ICCARTE) 2024 at the university’s library complex on Wednesday.

The conference, organised by UTB’s School of Design, was held in conjunction with the Konsortium Universiti Universitas Borneo (KUUB) Convention 2024, carrying the theme “Harmonising Art and Culture through Sustainable, Creative, and Innovative Design.”

The conference featured three keynote speakers.

Professor Dr Dzul Haimi Md Zain delivered the first keynote lecture, “Embracing Art and Culture in Art and Design,” which explored the integration of cultural influences into contemporary art and design.

The second keynote speaker, Ar Haji Khalid bin Haji Sirat, presented on the topic “Programming Architecture.” His lecture provided an in-depth analysis of the impact of digital technology on architectural design, discussing both current advancements and future possibilities in the field.

The final keynote by Associate Professor Dr Nor Azwadi bin Che Sidik was “The Art and Design of Journal Management.” Dr Nor Azwadi focused on the role of design in enhancing journal management processes and its significance in scholarly communication.

The conference concluded with parallel sessions across four tracks: Architecture, Industrial/Product Design, Fashion Design and Technology, and Technology in Creative Arts Designs. These sessions offered a platform for professionals and academics to engage in meaningful discussions and share insights on the latest trends and innovations at the intersection of creative arts, design, and technology.
