Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) honoured three books and two high-impact journal articles at the UNISSA Book Awards 2024, held at the university’s library foyer yesterday.
The Arabic Book Award was given to Imam Al-Shafi’i: Non-Jurisprudential Studies by Professor Dr Moustafa Mohammed Rizk Elsawahly. The English Book Award went to Orientalism, Modernization and Islamic Architecture by Associate Professor Dr Spahic Omer.
Meanwhile, the Malay Book Award was presented to Pertautan Seni Lukis Brunei Darussalam dan Melayu Islam Beraja by Associate Professor Dr Baharuddin Mohd Arus and Nur Rita binti Abdullah Rani.
In the category of high-impact journal articles, two awards were presented. The award for the most highly cited journal article was given to Effects of Water Additive Probiotic, Pediococcus Acidilactici on Growth Performance, Feed Utilization, Hematology, Gene Expression and Disease Resistance Against Aspergillus Flavus of Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis Niloticus), co-authored by Dr Mohammad Bodrul Munir, Dr Basma M Hendam, Dr Moaheda E H Eissa, Dr Ehab El-Haroun, Dr Hien van Doan, Dr Thian Hai Chung, and Dr El-Sayed Hemdan Eissa, with 26 citations. The award for the highest number of journal publications in 2023 was presented to Professor Dr Ahmad Osmanu Haruna, who published nine articles that year.
Assistant Rector (Academic) Professor Dr Siti Sara binti Haji Ahmad, the guest of honour representing the UNISSA rector, officiated the event.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a prayer led by UNISSA religious officer Pengiran Muhammad Daud bin Pengiran Matassan. This was followed by welcoming remarks from Director of the Centre for Research and Publication at UNISSA, Dr Hajah Sri Rahayu @ Nurjanah binti Haji Dollah. The UNISSA Book Awards, organised by the Centre for Research and Publication, aims to highlight the importance of research and publishing. – Fadley Faisal
