University achieves 5-Star excellence rating

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) received a 5-Star rating (excellent) and recognition based on the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Star Ratings.

UNISSA Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal received the recognition at the QS Stars Awards ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia recently.

UNISSA Director of Planning and Strategic Development Office Dr Muhammad Alif bin Haji Sismat and Head of Recognition and Corporatisation Dr Zulamali bin Begawan Pehin Khatib Haji Matassan were also present.

In its first participation, UNISSA achieved a 5-Star rating in five out of eight categories – Teaching, Employability, Internationalisation, Academic Development and Infrastructure.

Meanwhile, UNISSA scored a 4-Star rating in the Social Responsibility and Inclusiveness.

The UNISSA rector said, “As a young Islamic-based university, the rating is a momentous achievement that had placed UNISSA on par with other leading international universities that have also received a 5-star rating, such as Universiti Putra Malaysia, University of Jordan, King Saud University, Coventry University, and Lancaster University.”

He emphasised that the three-year rating is expected to serve as an encouragement for the UNISSA community to continue to progress and excel in the international stage, particularly in advancing global community development. The QS Stars Awards are part of the QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific 2023 organised by QS in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from November 7 to 9.
