His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, announced the renaming of the Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali’s (UNISSA) Faculty of Law to the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Law Faculty during a titah at the university’s 14th Hafl Al-Takharruj (convocation) ceremony.
The monarch expressed his hope that the faculty will play a pivotal role in producing high-calibre law graduates essential to the country’s needs.
During his titah, His Majesty reflected on previous convocation ceremonies where the monarch emphasised the importance of the university’s legal programme and it needs for the nation. The Monarch highlighted the necessity of establishing a dedicated Faculty of Law to ensure more efficient operations and to focus specifically on developing legal modules and courses in a more organised and high-quality manner. – Rokiah Mahmud
