UNISSA students triumph at Sarawak Islamic arts festival

Nur Amal Atiqah @ Aida binti Haji Sudirman was crowned the winner of the women’s Al-Quran reading competition in the second edition of the Islamic Arts Festival 2023 (i-fest2023) organised by Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus and the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts from August 7 to 12.

Meanwhile, Abdul Haziq Syarafuddin bin Abdul Habib was the runner-up in the men’s Al-Quran reading competition.

Muhammad Abdul Hakim bin Mohamad Asnan and Norain binti Haji A Armin were runners-up in the calligraphy art and religious lecture competitions.

Six Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) participated in the festival, competing in the calligraphy art, Al-Quran reading, archery and religious lectures competitions.

The students were accompanied by officer Haji Muhammad Danish Iqbal bin Haji Ariffin.

The festival aimed to highlight Islamic art and encourage the community, especially the youth, to engage in healthy activities and shape a better personality.

The festival was also participated by students from primary, secondary schools and tertiary institutions throughout Malaysia. – Azlan Othman
