A flag-hoisting ceremony for the Tutong District took place yesterday morning in the open area of the Tutong Community Hall Complex in conjunction with the 41st National Day celebration. The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a Doa led by Kampong Menengah Mosque Chief Imam Mohammad Azim Shah bin Abdul Rahman.
Acting Tutong District Officer Mohammad Sofian bin Haji Basri was the guest of honour. The flag bearers, led by Acting Assistant Tutong District Officer Mohammad Adi Asnawi bin Haji Adanan handed over the national flag to Mohammad Sofian who presented it to police personnel to be hoisted.
The ceremony was enlivened by school uniformed teams from Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Secondary School, Muda Hashim Secondary School, Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School, Tanjong Maya Secondary School, Sayyidina ‘Othman Secondary School and Ma’had Islam Brunei.
The national anthem and patriotic songs were sung by the Wira Bangsa choirs and students from Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School. Before the ceremony concluded, the guest of honour handed over national flags to penghulus and acting penghulus of the district. – James Kon
