The severe tropical storm Talim was observed at the northern region of South China Sea approximately 170 kilometres away from Brunei, said the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) in a statement on Sunday.
While it is forecast to move west-northwest away from the Sultanate, Talim is still expected to influence the weather.
Active and unsettled weather conditions are expected until tomorrow. Showers or thundershowers with occasional gusty winds reaching up to 60 kilometres per hour during or near the crossing of heavy showers. Sea condition over Brunei waters is at moderate to rough state with wave heights reaching three metres.
Meanwhile, the country is currently experiencing the southwest monsoon which is expected to persist until September.
