Some 40 saplings were planted by Institution of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA) Brunei at Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas to celebrate its 40th anniversary recently. Deputy Permanent Secretary (Construction Industry and Development) at the Ministry of Development (MoD) Sr Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Mohd Yaakub officiated.
The initiative supports the MoD’s strategic plan for sustainable urban planning and environmental protection.
The tree planting highlighted PUJA’s four decades of contributions to Brunei’s construction industry and commitment to environmental care. The event also emphasised the role of trees in improving urban landscapes, supporting biodiversity, and mitigating climate change.
The event, organised with the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe), contributes to the Sultanate’s goal of expanding green spaces and preserving urban forests. – Fadley Faisal
