Training boosts Brunei River tour guide skills

A participant in the Brunei River Heritage and the River Safari training shared that training is important for tour guides in increasing their knowledge and techniques on guiding along Brunei rivers.

“The training helps us refresh and be updated with information on the history of the Brunei River including the flora and fauna in the area.”

Meanwhile, participant Ho Huey Voon@Vernie said the training was a great opportunity to learn more about the history, heritage, animal and plants along Brunei River.

The training, participated by 45 registered tour guides under the Tourism Development Department at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, included Menglait River and Damuan River.

The three-session training was based on the Brunei River Heritage exploring landmarks, culture and historical stories along the river.

Meanwhile, the river safari explored the wildlife along the river such as the proboscis monkey, species of birds, and the mangrove forest along Menglait River and Damuan river.

The training aimed at providing information on the Brunei empire along the Brunei River as well as exploring the wildlife in the areas.

Tour guides also gain knowledge on the importance of the rivers’ ecosystem in maintaining the environment balance and to instil a sense of responsibility towards preserving the source of clean water.

The training session is one of the initiatives of the Tourism Development Department for tour guides to increase their knowledge and skills to provide a quality service to tourists. – James Kon
