The Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam held a flower arrangement workshop at the Lifelong Learning Centre (L3C) in RPN Kampong Lambak Kanan.
The event is part of ongoing celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Brunei.
The Sogetsu Ikebana workshop highlighted the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement, emphasises harmony, balance, and simplicity. It is known for its minimalist use of blooms, branches, and leaves, focusing on the lines and spaces within the arrangement.
The core philosophy of Sogetsu Ikebana, “Anytime, anywhere, by anyone”, encourages creativity and personal expression.
Around 90 participants attended the workshop facilitated by 11 certified Sogetsu Ikebana instructors from Japan. Deputy Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Dr Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah attended as the guest of honour.
