Three Indonesians – Budianto, 41; Ayub, 30; and Sujiyo, 49 – were sentenced to four months in prison and three strokes of the cane for staying in the country after their immigration passes had expired.
Magistrate Abdul ‘Azim bin Othman passed the sentence while the Immigration and National Registration Department’s (INRD) Haminah binti Haji Awang Salleh was the prosecutor.
The cases were follow-ups to ‘Operasi Kabat 28/2024’ carried out by the INRD on rental houses in Mukim Lumapas. The public with information on immigration offences can contact INRD at 8734888, 8753888 or 8984111. – Azlan Othman
