The Royal Customs and Excise Department’s (RCED) enforcement personnel detained two locals and a female foreigner, aged between 23 to 35, for the alleged possession of contraband comprising 200 cartons and 20 sticks of cigarettes and 24 bottles of alcohol.
Three vehicles believed to be used for smuggling activities were also seized.
Enforcement personnel carried out an operation in Serasa where the three suspects were caught, according to the RCED.
The contraband, vehicle and suspects were brought to the enforcement office for investigation.
The RCED reminded the public to comply with the Sultanate’s laws and avoid being involved in smuggling activities. – James Kon
