Thai defence forces chief visits Brunei

The Ministry of Defence (MinDef) received an official visit from the Chief of the Defence Forces, Royal Thai Armed Forces (RTARF) General Songwit Noonpackdee who is in Brunei Darussalam from 19 to 21 June 2024.

Upon arrival at the Bolkiah Garrison, General Songwit Noonpackdee was greeted by Commander Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, and received a General Salute from the Guard of Honour comprising of personnel from the Royal Brunei Land Force.

General Songwit Noonpackdee then paid a courtesy call on Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof.

During the call, both sides appreciated the firm and long-standing bilateral defence relationship between Brunei Darussalam and the Kingdom of Thailand. They exchanged views on regional and geopolitical developments of mutual importance.

The Chief of the Defence Forces RTARF also had a call with the Commander of the RBAF where both armed forces’ leaders underscored the importance of their strong working relationship in ensuring regional stability and security, reflecting the commitment of both the RBAF and RTARF. – JAMES KON
