His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit with Heads of State and Government of ASEAN, Australia and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, on Wednesday.
The Special Summit was held to celebrate 50 years since Australia became ASEAN’s first Dialogue Partner in 1974 and aimed to enhance ASEAN-Australia cooperation under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
During the Plenary Session of the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit at Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre, His Majesty in a titah underscored the importance of economic cooperation to the ASEAN–Australia relationship.
The Retreat Session of the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit took place at the Ballroom, Government House Victoria, where His Majesty in a titah expressed concern over the intensifying global geo-political uncertainties and evolving challenges, affecting this region, despite them happening far away.
