A delegation of 12 Year 9 and 10 students from Muda Hashim Secondary School (SMMH), Tutong District, accompanied by the principal and two teachers from the school, left the Sultanate yesterday to participate in the School Twinning Programme between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore from July 9 to 13.
The visit, aimed to strengthen the close relationship and cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore, will see the delegation visit Montfort Secondary School (MSS).
During the visit, the students will have the opportunity to see more closely the implementation of the education system at the school, in addition to gaining knowledge and experience by participating in learning sessions and co-curricular activities with fellow students from MSS.
The students will visit historical places in Singapore. A teacher in the delegation, Pengiran Haji Reza Redzuan bin Pengiran Haji Rani said, “During this programme, we are hoping to learn about the educational system in Singapore, and we will also showcase our best practices to MSS. We hope that our students who are participating in this programme will be able to develop their leadership and communication skills.”
Meanwhile, one of the students, Awangku Muhammad Khairul Nazran bin Pengiran Radin said, “We will conduct several activities and take a closer look at the learning environment in Singapore. We will also carry out group projects with Singapore students. I hope to gain new experience in this trip.”
The trip, coordinated by the Ministry of Education (MoE) through the Department of Schools, is the second cycle of the programme held, where the first round took place from 2018 to 2019.
Present to send off Brunei’s delegation was Director of Schools at the MoE Hajah Marina Chek binti Bujang as well as officers from MoE, parents and family members of the students. – James Kon
