The public stepped up to help save lives as participants flocked to recently held blood donation drives at McDonald’s Brunei branches.
The blood donation drives, organised by Brunei Gas Carriers Sdn Bhd (BGC) and McDonald’s Brunei in collaboration with the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital blood bank, saw 211 successful donations after all pre-registered participants and walk-ins donated blood.
The initiative was one of BGC’s social investment initiatives and part of the company’s healthy lifestyle programme.
The first event took place on June 10 at McDonald’s Jerudong branch while the second was held yesterday at McDonald’s Lambak.
BGC Managing Director Captain Abdul Mateen bin Abdurrahman Liew was in attendance. Prior to the events, BGC organised a one-week social media campaign to invite and register prospective donors.
The campaign highlighted “very low levels” of stocks at the national blood bank and called on the public to help replenish supply.
The company said that the blood donation campaign will aid in the development of community spirit and raise awareness on the importance of blood donations and the need for safe blood transfusions.
