The Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department held the “Melangkah Kehadapan” (Stepping Forward) activity on Sunday at 6.30 AM at the Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas in conjunction with the 54th anniversary of the renaming of Brunei Town to Bandar Seri Begawan in 2024.
Present as the guest of honour was the Acting Minister of Home Affairs Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh.
The activity began with a warm-up session conducted in collaboration with the Prisons Department, followed by the launch of the “Melangkah Kehadapan” walk officiated by Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah.
The walk started and concluded at Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas, covering a distance of 2.5km.
The purpose of the event was to encourage the public to adopt a healthy lifestyle through walking activities around the Bandar Seri Begawan area, aiming to increase daily step counts in line with the Ministry of Health’s aspiration to promote a more active and healthier lifestyle among Bruneians.
Also in attendance were Members of the Legislative Council representing districts, Permanent Secretaries and Deputy Permanent Secretaries of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Heads of Departments, and Senior Officers from the Ministry and its respective departments. – James Kon
