    Smuggling attempt foiled

Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) personnel of Bangar Police Station foiled a smuggling attempt at Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddin (SHOAS) bridge and seized 80 kilogrammes of raw chicken and a packet of cigarettes on Friday.

According to the RBPF, police personnel during a patrol at noon found a suspicious vehicle believed to be transporting contraband.

The patrol stopped the vehicle on its way to the capital. The search led to the discovery of the contraband.

The driver and two passengers, aged 17 to 34, who were unemployed were detained for further investigation.

The vehicle was seized and brought back to the Bangar Police Station. The case was handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further action.

The RBPF said it will continue to increase its patrol and operations to combat smuggling activities and violation of the national laws.

The public is advised not to be involved in any criminal activities.

Information regarding suspicious activities can be forwarded to the authorities. – James Kon
