The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) through Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) participated in the BIMP-EAGA Trade Convention 2023 (BETCON23) in Jerudong recently.
It showcased its services tailored to empower local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Among the highlights was the ‘Bruneian Made’ pavilion showcasing 27 local vendors within DARe’s ecosystem.
Meanwhile, BEDB also strengthened existing partnerships and explored new opportunities during BETCON23.
There was a courtesy call between Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II and BEDB Chairman Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah and Sabah Minister of Industrial Development & Entrepreneurship Phoong Jin Zhe.
This was followed by BEDB and DARe Acting Chief Executive Officer Daniel Leong giving a presentation on Brunei’s economic development to a delegation from Sabah Ministry of Industrial Development & Entrepreneurship and Sabah Department of Industrial Development & Research and a tour of Brunei Innovation Lab.
BEDB also engaged with a 22-member delegation from Mindanao Development Authority led by Secretary Maria Belen Acosta and a 15-member delegation from Guangxi.
BEDB also organised a business forum with 50 attendees and speakers from the region where Leong shared insights into the various investment opportunities that the Sultanate has to offer with focus on food, downstream oil and gas as well as services.
