The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) yesterday launched the Safety Month to commemorate the World Day for Safety and Health at Work (WDSHW), that takes place annually on April 28.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II, who is also the Minister in Charge of SHENA Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof officiated SHENA’s newly redesigned website in conjunction with the occasion.
The website has added a ‘Live Chat’ feature with users and statistics dashboard offering real-time data and event management system for engagements with stakeholders.
The website will ease SHENA’s operations such as on-line registration, licencing and procurement, while serving as a portal of communication between SHENA and local stakeholders and international counterparts.
Meanwhile, this year’s theme for the WDSHW, ‘A Safe and Healthy Working Environment as a Fundamental Principle and Right at Work’, underscores the importance of holistic worker well-being, encompassing physical, mental and emotional aspects.
The theme reflects the resolution adopted during the 110th International Labour Conference last year where all member states of the International Labour Organization (ILO) agreed to respect and promote fundamental rights that all workers are entitled including a safe, healthy, and hazard-free work environment.
The event concluded with a video previewing the series of events scheduled for the Safety Month including SHENA roadshows to be held in all districts.
Deputy Minister (Security and Law) at the Prime Minister’s Office and Chairman of the SHENA Board of Directors Dato Seri Paduka Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu, Deputy Minister (Civil Service Governance) at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Paduka Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, permanent secretaries, and acting permanent secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office, SHENA Board of Directors, SHENA Interim Chief Executive Officer Datin Zubaidah binti Haji Mahmud, SHENA senior management team and representatives of government agencies and industries were also in attendance.
