ANN/THE STAR – The senior cop who allegedly rammed his car into a Form Five student will be charged with murder today, said the Malaysian Attorney-General (AG).
Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Salleh said after scrutinising the results of the investigation and based on the evidence in the investigation paper, the AG’s Chambers has found there is sufficient evidence for a murder charge against the suspect.
“Therefore, the suspect will be tentatively charged at the Ipoh Magistrate’s Court under Section 302 of the Penal Code on Monday.
“The Magistrate’s court will then determine a date to transfer the case to the Ipoh High Court for trial,” he said in a statement yesterday.
It was reported that Muhammad Zaharif Affendi Muhd Zamrie died on the spot following the incident at about 12.40pm on Friday and a post-mortem found that the SMK Jati student died due to chest and abdominal injuries.
A police officer had since been remanded until today to facilitate investigations following the accident, and is said to be a Deputy Superintendent based in Kedah.
