The Brunei Darussalam National Judo Federation (BDNJF) convened its Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Saturday at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, setting the stage for 2025 initiatives while celebrating key achievements from 2024.
BDNJF President Muhammad Ali Rashid bin Haji Mohammad Alipah delivered opening remarks before the ratification of the federation’s updated constitution 4.0. The meeting also introduced executive committee members to the newly-joined federation meeting.
Plans for 2025 include an anniversary tournament in February, participation in local and international competitions and quarterly national grading examinations. These initiatives aim to strengthen Brunei’s presence in the sport. A highlight of the evening was the recognition of the federation’s first batch of national Shodan holders – Nur Farah Aqilah binti Md Abidin, Abdul Qawiyyel Mateen bin Haji Abdul Rajid and Haji Mohd Noh bin Dato Paduka Haji Matassan – who earned their black belts in December 2024.
Certificates of appreciation were also presented to members who completed the Level 1 National Judo Instructor Course in November 2024, as well as to those who significantly contributed to promoting judo and demonstrated consistent commitment to the sport. – Nadzirah Malek-Webb
