The Information Department hosted the Semarak Hari Keputeraan programme at the Temburong District Community Hall Complex yesterday in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 77th birthday celebration.
Deputy Minister (Security and Law) at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Paduka Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu was the guest of honour. Acting Director of the Information Department Siti Bismi Nuruliman binti Haji Awang Emzah, who is also the chair of the Semarak Hari Keputeraan programme, presided.
Associate Professor Dr Mohd Shahril bin Ahmad Razimi from the Faculty of Community Science Education at the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) delivered a religious talk titled ‘Maqasid Syariah dan Kepimpinan Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar `Ali Saifuddien’.
He emphasised on the leadership qualities of His Majesty and the governance of the country, which are grounded in the principles of Maqasid Syariah and Ahli Sunnah Wal Jama’ah.
Dr Mohd Shahril highlighted that His Majesty is a leader who deeply cares for his people, while there are no barriers between him and the citizens of Brunei. He further explained the implementation of the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) philosophy through Brunei Vision 2035, focusing on three essential components: a well-educated and highly skilled population, a high quality of life, and a dynamic and sustainable economy.
The concept of a Zikir nation, aligned with the principles of Maqasid Syariah and Ahli Sunnah Wal Jama’ah, was also discussed.
Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Sulaiman bin Haji Nasir, who is also the Acting Penghulu of Zone 1 and Village Head of Kampong Labu Estate and Piasau-Piasau and senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office were also in attendance. – James Kon
