Scholarship students head to Egypt, Malaysia for further studies

Some 62 students left for Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday to pursue their education at Al-Azhar University, Maahad Qiraat Shoubra in Egypt, while another student departed for Malaysia.

One student was conferred with Sultan’s Scholar Scholarship of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and 16 students received scholarships under the Islamic Studies Department (JPI) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

JPI Director Awang Haji Shamshol bin Haji Omar was present to bid farewell to the students.

To bless the journey, Sunnat Hajat and Asar prayers were held at the surau of the airport, led by Haji Mohammad Ashraf bin Haji Bujang.

Prior to their departure, a Doa Selamat was read by Awangku Mohd Idris Fadhlee bin Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim. Also in attendance were assistant directors and officers from JPI and family members of the students. – Azlan Othman
