Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman helped Team Peak to second place in the Corporate 10-kilometre (km) category during the VA Run at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien at the capital yesterday.
LTB Ayam won the Corporate 10km event with YouC1000 coming in third place.
Her Royal Highness also presented prizes to the winners in both the 10km male and female open categories.
Leading long distance running athlete Ruzaini Mahadi emerged winner in the 10km male open category after clocking 33:42s.
The serial winner finished ahead of runners-up Haqeem Darwish who posted 34:30s while Awangku Khairul Amry bin Pengiran Azmi crossed the line with 37:09s to claim third place.
Meanwhile, Siaw Kim Tho won the 10km female open after she recorded 44:25s followed by runners-up Shazana Hamiroldzam with 50:19s and Shazana Nabilah in third place with 51:14s.
Young runner Abdullah Abbas Ag Abdullah won the 10km male local junior under-18 category after registering 35:36s.
Muhammad Nurirfan Mohd A’Arafah came second with 37:02s while Mohd Af’ef Idraki bin Mohd Firnasrulilah settled for third place with 40:02s.
Muhd Fathurrahman bin Haji Zulkifli clinched the 5km male open title after registering 17:19s followed by Kasyful Asymawi as runners-up with 17:23s and Ahmad Zawawi Rasit in third with 17:36s.
Linda Chin stood on top of the podium as the winner of the 5km female open with 20:58s.
Aida Syazwana finished runners-up with 21.28s while Zida Abdullah came third after recording 26:45s.
The 5km and 10km events were categorised as competitive while there was also a 2km Fun Run category for those who opted for a shorter distance.
Teams also raced for the Corporate 5km and 10km events comprising a mixed participation of five runners. In the Corporate 5km event, BIBD ‘A’ won the Corporate 5km event followed by BDCBees Team ‘A’ as runners-up and LTB Kerbau in third place.
The run, which aims to not only promote health and fitness but foster community spirit among runners while supporting a noble cause, attracted 1,035 participants.
