His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, as the Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman, at the Brunei International Airport, welcomed the arrival of the Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính and spouse Lê Thị Bích Trân, as well as their delegation who are in the country on a two-day Official Visit.
Minister of Development as Minister-in-Attendance Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid and spouse were also present to welcome the Vietnamese Prime Minister and spouse.
Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof and spouse; Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin and spouse; Deputy Minister of Defence Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abd Kadir; Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan and spouse; High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Vietnam Datin Paduka Malai Hajah Halimah binti Malai Haji Yussof; and Vietnamese High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Trần Văn Khoa and spouse were also in attendance.
The official welcoming ceremony began with the national anthems of both countries.
The prime minister inspected the guard of honour mounted by members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).
The prime minister was then introduced to Cabinet Ministers; deputy ministers; the Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF); the Commander of the RBAF; foreign envoys in Brunei Darussalam; and permanent secretaries from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and their spouses.
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah were then introduced to the Vietnamese delegation including Minister of Foreign Affairs Bùi Thanh Sơn and Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Trần Văn Sơn.
During the official visit, the prime minister and spouse as well as their delegation are expected to have an audience with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam at Istana Nurul Iman today.
This marks the prime minister’s first Official Visit since his appointment on April 5, 2021.
