The Revenue Division of the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) will no longer be accepting cash or cheque payments from May 1.
The MoFE announced the change yesterday as an initiative to promote digitalisation.
The initiative is in line with the implementation of online services provided by the Revenue Division through the System for Tax Administration and Revenue Services (STARS) in the one common portal (OCP) such as the filing of Income Tax Returns and e-Stamping.
Payments for all taxes (excluding petroleum tax) and other services can be made through Bank Counter – Bill Payment Slip at Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) and Standard Chartered Bank; Internet Banking – Bill Payment in BIBD, Standard Chartered Bank and Baiduri Bank; Telegraphic Transfer through BIBD, Standard Chartered Bank (for payments made from overseas only); while stamp duty is paid using credit or debit card.
To ensure the payment is successfully processed in the system and no penalty is imposed, customers must ensure to insert information correctly such as Return ID (nine digits) generated by STARS after filing must be provided when making bill payment; for bank counter, to use one Bill Payment Slip for one Return ID; and for Internet Banking, to use one Bill Payment for one Return ID. – James Kon
