Religious event enlivens Ramadhan in Temburong

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) along with mukim and village consultative councils held a Tedarus Al-Quran ceremony at Kampong Selangan Mosque in Temburong District on March 19.

Permanent Secretary (Safety and Welfare) at the Ministry of Home Affairs Salminan bin Haji Burut was the guest of honour.

The ceremony saw the permanent secretary presenting cash donations (waqaf) to Acting Imam of Kampong Selangan Mosque Haji Muhammad Syahmi bin Haji Tuah.

Orphans also received donations during the ceremony.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Sulaiman bin Haji Nasir; permanent secretaries and deputy permanent secretaries; acting district officers; department heads; officers and staff of the MoHA; village heads and deputy village heads; members of the village consultative councils in the Temburong District; and villagers were also present.

Apart from enlivening Ramadhan, the ceremony also aimed to foster closer ties among the officers and staff of the MoHA with members of mukim, village consultative councils and grassroots leaders. – Adib Noor
