Regional experts to meet in Brunei

The APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) of Brunei Darussalam is looking forward to host the Brunei Business Conference and the 2nd ABAC Meeting, themed ‘Equity. Sustainability.

Opportunity.’ from April 27-30, which will bring together the Chairs of both ABAC and the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (BAC) for the first time.

The conference and the ABAC meeting will see the participation of delegates from the 21 APEC economies, led by the ABAC 2023 Chairperson and Chairman and CEO of the East West Bank Dominic Ng.

Ng will seek to advance priorities to spur economic growth in balance with the environment, address climate change, support private sector contributions to sustainability, and promote policies that expand economic opportunity across the APEC region.

Also taking part in the Brunei Business Conference and the ABAC meeting will be ASEAN BAC 2023 Chair and Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN Indonesia) and CEO of Indika Energy Arsjad Rasjid.

As Chairman of KADIN Indonesia, Rasjid speaks on behalf of over 30,000 Indonesian companies, while as CEO of Indika Energy, his leadership has steered the mineral-based company to grow its assets sevenfold despite falling global prices, by focussing on diversification, digital technology and renewable energy.

Rasjid will share the priorities and programmes that ASEAN-BAC business leaders have agreed to advance in 2023, in the areas of digital transformation, sustainable development, health resilience, food security as well as trade and investment facilitation.

Discussions at the ABAC meeting in the Sultanate will progress the work of developing ABAC recommendations to the APEC Economic Leaders’. It will also guide discussions for their annual dialogue at the APEC Leaders’ Summit in November this year.

The Brunei Business Conference, which will be held in conjunction with the ABAC meeting on April 27, is a unique opportunity for the Brunei business community to meet with the ABAC and ASEAN BAC business figures.

The conference will see panel discussions featuring local and international business leaders, including from Fortune 500 companies, as well the heads of regional and international banks, and chambers of commerce. Topics include the business priorities for ASEAN and APEC in 2023; digital and inclusive growth; and sustainable growth and energy transition.
