Aishaafika Minimart in Kampong Lumut, Belait District put a smile on the faces of some 100 orphans and underprivileged residing in Kampong Lumut and RPN Kampong Lumut Zone 1, 2 and 3 during a donation presentation ceremony at Zainab Mosque in Lumut.

The donations aimed to brighten the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration in the spirit of Ramadhan.

Orbit Supermarket

Some 85 residents of Kampong Salambigar, Kampong Lambak Kanan, Kampong Sungai Orok and Kampong Sungai Hanching received donations from Orbit Supermarket Sdn Bhd during a ceremony in Kampong Salambigar yesterday.

The recipients, comprising orphans and the financially-challenged, received BND60 worth of food hampers that included rice, cooking oil, instant noodles, soya bean drink and basic food necessities.

Orbit Supermarket Managing Director Anwar Ali Mohamed Yusuff presented the donations.

Kampong Salambigar Village Head Haji Abdul Rahman bin Sapar; Kampong Perpindahan Lambak Kanan Zone 4 Village Head Haji Mohamamd Fazzly bin Haji Suhaili; Kampong Lambak Kanan Village Head Haji Jumat bin Nasir; and former Kampong Sungai Hanching village head Haji Amron bin Awang were also present. – Rokiah Mahmud

Malayali Association

The Malayali Association presented Hari Raya hampers to 20 underprivileged families during a ceremony at Pusat Insani, Seria in the Belait District recently.

The association’s 10th annual Hari Raya donation drive started with the recitation of Doa Selamat and a speech from Mukim Kuala Belait Penghulu Haji Abdul Afiq bin Zainuddin.

The charity was part of the association’s commitment to give back to the community.

Syarikat Salma Jaya

Syarikat Salma Jaya recently presented donations to 42 orphans and hosted them to an iftar at Salma Hall 1, Impiana Jaya Complex in Kiulap.

The event is an annual programme to ease the burden of orphans during the holy month of Ramadhan and in preparation for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities.

Unity Charity Association

The Unity Charity Association organised a presentation of donation and iftar for 17 orphans in Kampong Kilanas at a restaurant on Sunday.

Kampong Kilanas Village Head Haji Mohammad Ameerolbahrynee bin Haji Abdul Hamid emphasised the importance of unity and compassion within the community at the event.

The association’s president Jake Goh Kiat Hing presented food and cash donations to the orphans.

Baiduri Bank

The eighth edition of Baiduri Bank’s annual ‘Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan’ initiative continued in the Belait District at Soon Lee Megamart in Pandan 7 yesterday.

This year, the bank has partnered with the Council for the Welfare of Persons with Different Abilities (MKOKU) to support 100 members of the council and their families, who will enjoy an afternoon of shopping and iftar in the evening.

Baiduri Bank Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Consumer Banking Manuel Bulens attended the event.

“Sustainability is not only about doing less harm to the environment. It is also about having a positive influence on the communities we serve. And that means recognising the value of diversity and making more of an effort to emphasise inclusivity,” he said. “We are grateful to MKOKU for giving us the opportunity to support several underserved communities by welcoming, respecting, and valuing their members and families and helping them prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya festivities.”

Baiduri Bank Head of Group Strategic Marketing and Communications Ng Yick Wei added: “Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan is a heartfelt opportunity for our volunteers to embody our brand values. Through corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities like this, we aim to inspire and empower our employees to make impactful contributions to our cherished communities.”

There are currently nine non-governmental organisations under the MKOKU – Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam, Centre for Children with Special Needs (KACA), Paraplegic and Physically Handicapped Association (PAPDA), Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei), Down Syndrome Association (ABLE), Special Olympics Brunei Darussalam (SOBD), Brunei Darussalam National Association of the Blind (BDNAB), National Association for the Hearing-Impaired (OKP) and Learning Ladders Society (LLS).

As in previous years, the initiative is supported by volunteers from ‘Baiduri Cares’, an internal programme where employees from Baiduri Bank and its sister companies – Baiduri Finance and Baiduri Capital – can volunteer for various activities.

In the spirit of collaboration, the bank has continued its partnership with Setia Motors Sdn Bhd, and Indera Motors Sdn Bhd joining as an additional logistics partner for the initiative, assisting in transporting families from their homes to the venues and back.

Pooman Group

The Pooman Group presented donations to 40 families in need at Pooman Group Supermarket in Kampong Tanjong Nangka yesterday.

The recipients comprised residents of Kampong Tanjong Nangka, Kampong Sengkurong, Kampong Mulaut, Kampong Jerudong and Kampong Lugu.

Pooman Group managers, including Taj Uddin, Abu Taher, Haji Mohamed Haja Najmuddin bin Haji Md Maideen, Hajah Muthu Mohamed Nachiar and Assistant Manager Haji Maideen bin Abdul Rahim, presented the donations.

Also present was Kampong Tanjong Nangka’s acting village head Haji Hamdan bin Ajak.

According to Pooman Group, this was the second year the event was organised by the supermarket branch in Kampong Tanjong Nangka. Pooman Group also hoped the donations would ease the recipients’ burden while bringing cheer during the month of Ramadhan and in the upcoming Hari Raya celebration. – Rokiah Mahmud

MPK RPN Kampong Panchor

Some 28 orphans in RPN Kampong Panchor Area 4 received donations during a Tahlil and Doa Arwah ceremony on Sunday.

The donations comprised cash and basic necessities, which aimed to meet their daily expenditure during the holy month of Ramadhan and in preparation for the Hari Raya festivities.

The ceremony, held at the residence of RPN Kampong Panchor Area 4’s acting village head Faidil Rosemary bin Mohamad, was organised by the Village Consultative Council (MPK) committee members and MPK RPN Kampong Panchor (Mengkubau) Zone 4 Bureau.

Acting Penghulu of Mukim Menteri and Village Head of STKRJ Sungai Buloh (Bukit Sibanging) Hamidun bin Mohd Daud and spouse also attended.

The ceremony began with the mass recitation of Tahlil and Doa Arwah, led by Mohd Ayub bin Mohd Ali, followed by a presentation of donations by Faidil Rosemary. – Lyna Mohamad
