    Raising awareness on data privacy

    The Health, Safety, Security and Environment Unit (HSSE) of the Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Student Representative Council (MPP) organised a Data Privacy Day: Protecting Your Digital World’ event yesterday.

    UNISSA Dean of Students Affairs Haji Hayatuddin bin Haji Moksin was the guest of honour.

    Associate Vice President of Data Engineering and Analytics at DataStream Digital Sdn Bhd Edmund Lim and Authority of Info-communcations Technology Industry for Brunei Darussalam (AITI) Deputy Chief Executive Officer Norshahrul Nizam bin Othman attended as special invited guests.

    A forum on ‘Empowering Your Digital Rights’ was fronted by panellists including Edmund Lim and personal data protection officer at AITI Farah Zainal. The forum discussed digital security and procedures in addressing cyber threats that students may encounter.

    The event also saw a prize presentation for the cybersecurity awareness video contest, with Muhamamd Haziq bin Hanip as the winner, while Muhammad Abdul Hakim bin Mohammad Asnan in second place and Khairul Hafizan bin Kamis and his team Mohammad Syafiq Hisyamuddin bin Rosli and Iffah Nazifa Hadirah binti Jeffery in third.

    The event served as a platform for students to cultivate a deeper understanding on the importance of preserving personal privacy and responsibly managing personal data. – Rokiah Mahmud
