Brunei Darussalam is currently in the southwest monsoon which will typically persist until September.

During the southwest monsoon, atmospheric conditions over the Sultanate tend to be quite stable with minimal thunderstorms occurrences compared to during the inter-monsoon period. The wind condition will generally be blowing from the Southwest direction during this period, said the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department in a statement.

However, unsettled weather condition is expected in the coming days due to the formation of a low-pressure system over the South China Sea that leads to more moist and unstable atmospheric conditions over our region.

Weather conditions are forecast to be active in the next few days beginning today until Saturday morning, with occasional heavy and thundery showers expected to affect many areas of the country. The wind speed may reach up to 45 kilometres per hour during or near heavy showers.

Over Brunei waters, sea state is generally at slight to moderate, between 0.5-1.5 metres.
