The Period Initiative and Knowledge (PINK) Project, a 2023 Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD)- Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Sustainability Youth Award Project Team, is hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness Week from October 31 to November 3, in collaboration with The One shopping complex.
The event offers a variety of free activities for the public, including daily wellness sessions such as Pilates and Pound Fit classes, creative workshops such as batik colouring as well as informative talks on breast cancer, period health and general wellness led by experts from the Health Promotion Centre (HPC).
Second Secretary at the Australian High Commission in Brunei Darussalam Yan Kok officiated the event attended by representatives from various organisations including Green Brunei, the HPC, the SDG Office of the Prime Minister’s Office and students from higher education institutions. Project Manager Syahmi Kamal welcoming the attendees, emphasised the power of community and shared knowledge in promoting health awareness. He also announced the rebranding of PINK Project, highlighting the organisation’s commitment to reducing stigmas, creating inclusive spaces and empowering women with health education and resources.
PINK Project aims to be a trusted resource for women’s health, supporting open discussions and accessible care on a range of issues from menstrual health to general women’s health.
The project is supported by key partners, including the SDG Secretariat Brunei, BIBD and the HPC.
Breast Cancer Awareness Week serves as a testament to the importance of collaborative community efforts in providing resources, breaking stigmas and fostering a more informed society. – Daniel Lim
