The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) foiled two separate attempts to smuggle contraband into the country on Thursday.
The water village police station personnel on receiving a report from a civil servant on the discovery of the contraband at Kampong Saba Tengah, rushed to the scene and found contraband in a government building.
Fifty cartons of cigarettes and 216 cans and 15 bottles of alcohol were found.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Temburong District, a joint patrol by personnel of the Police Reserve Unit’s Company ‘C’ under the RBPF and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces found a black plastic package at the pathway of Murut Cemetery in Kampong Menengah.
After an initial investigation, eight cartons of cigarettes were found inside the package.
The seized contraband were handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department.
RBPF urged the public to share information on any criminal activities on hotline 993 or any police station. – James Kon
