Planning Authority unearths nine offences

Nine companies in the Brunei-Muara District were each fined BND250 for violating the Town and Country Planning (Composition of Offences) Regulations 2018 during an operation conducted by the Planning Authority yesterday.

Five companies were penalised for using parking spaces and landscaped areas for vehicle repairs, while two companies were fined for leaving derelict vehicles in parking spaces, and another two were found using sidewalks for business activities, thus obstructing pedestrian traffic.

The companies were given seven-days to settle their fines.

The authority also reminded business owners as well as the public to comply with planning laws by obtaining proper approval for land use and development.

The public can contact the Department of Town and Country Planning’s hotline at 8200222 for information. – Fadley Faisal
