Faridah binti Haji Jaya’s entry entitled ‘Mari Selfie Bersama’ – Bersatu Hati, Semangat Kemerdekaan won the heart of judges of the Photography Competition organised by the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) in conjunction with the 38th National Day celebration.
Faridah, represented by her son, received BND1,000 cash and a certificate from Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin during a prize presentation ceremony at Balai Sarmayuda of DBP yesterday.
Permanent Secretary (Community and Culture) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari, Acting Permanent Secretary (Strategy and Policy Management) at the MCYS Dr Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah, directors at the MCYS and its departments as well as senior government officers, judges and participants of the competition were also present.
The competition, themed ‘Detik-detik Keceriaan Semasa Perhimpunan Agung,’ was open to citizens and permanent residents of all ages from February 24 to March 5. Among the objectives of the competition were to encourage the community, particularly photography enthusiasts to showcase skills and creativity, to promote and uplift photography in the country and as a value-added collection and documentation of national day celebrations.
A total of 17 entries with 38 pieces of photos were received by the secretariat. Second place winner Haji Mohammad Yusof bin Haji Mohammad Yassin walked home with BND750 cash while third place winner Mohammad Abdul Azim Alexander bin Haji Jameel Ahmad received BND500.
Two other winners received consolation prizes of BND250 cash each.
